“Galicja. Studia i materiały” is a yearly journal. Its profile includes topics related to the history of Galicia in a broad sense: its political, socioeconomic and sociographic history. We also publish articles within the scope of philosophy, history of law and political systems, culture and political thought, religion and churches, history of science and education, press, history of historiography, literature, history of art, architecture, music, related to Galicia. We would like to look for answers to new historiographic trends.
Our journal also includes sources and materials related to history of Galicia, reviews and analyses of works dedicated to the history of this province.
The journal is aimed at a wide spectrum of readers interested in the past of the geographic, cultural and ethnic area, which was a part of the Austrian partition in the years 1772-1918.

The journal “Galicja. Studia i materiały” is included in the list of ranked academic journals prepared by MNiSW [Ministry of Science and Higher Education] – it has 70 points.

A need to publish a scientific journal devoted to the history of Galicia was already indicated in the spring of 2009, when the International Research Team ‘Galicia 1772-1918’ began its work in the Institute of History at the University of Rzeszów. The team gathering historians from Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary organized six international scientific conferences in Rzeszów, Przemyśl, Poznań and Lviv.
